If you are not familiar with the Benching concept here is a brief overview.

Benching is a term used to describe a specific type of product line or layout.  It relates back to the days of science class where you sat at an open table with all of your required equipment in front of you.  You were open to the others in the class and the teacher could see pretty much anything that was going on and how experiments were proceeding.

Modern day benching has a similar approach but also allows for a variety of ways to separate staff, if required.  You might have cabinets along the spine run (center run of supporting components) or you may opt for a tackable screen or frosted glass divider so that you have a small amount of privacy between people.

Benching is thought to provide a higher level of collaboration in the office environment, the jury is still out on this idea – time will tell.
