There is a growing body of evidence indicating the bad parts of sitting on our tushes most of the day. Think about it. We get up and then we
- Sit down to breakfast
- Sit down for out commute to work
- Sit down at our desk – not getting up nearly as much as you think you do
- Sit down for lunch
- Sit back down at work
- Sit through meetings
- Sit through our commute back home
- Sit down to dinner
- Sit down to watch tv and relax
- Then we go back to bed
This adds up to a LOT of sitting. Some studies (which we will review soon) are indicating that even if you exercise daily, the amount of sitting is off setting the exercise you are doing. Fat builds up around your heart faster when you sit than when we move.
So, we are slowwwllly sitting ourselves to death. This has been a growing issue for a long time and it now making a splash on the national media – more about that soon as well.
So what do you do about this? Easy, change your work habits, get up off your butt and move around.
Here are some options to consider:
- Sit-To-Stand equipment to raise up your monitor, keyboard and mouse
- Stand up desks
- Stand up while you are meeting, one doctor at Mayo has walking meetings around a track designed into their floor plan
- Sit-to-Stand Tables
Today we want to take a look at a couple of Sit-to-Stand table options that are available on the market.
