7 ways to save paper and help the enviroment

  1. Print 2 sided. Save half of your paper. Set your printer default to automatically print 2-sided. It costs nothing and you will save money on paper.
  2. Reduce your margins. One study suggests you can use 20% less paper by reducing all four sides of the margins to ½”.
  3. Print consciously. When printing from the internet, always use a print preview to make sure you are printing what you want and not printing one extra page with four words on it. Think before you print emails, documents, etc.
  4. No more paper cups. Save disposable tableware for extreme cases. It takes a small habit to get into the habit of a reusable cup. Go paper free for one month and see how easy a habit can be formed.
  5. Say no to junk mail. Get rid of flyers, catalogs, and credit card offers. Sign up for services over the internet. Some companies will reduce all your mail, other will let you pick and choose if there are some mailing you would like to keep.
  6. Reduce your magazine subscriptions. Does your office receive 5 or 10 copies of one publication? Save paper, fuel, and money by reducing your subscription to one per company. When the magazine is received, place a routing sticker on the cover to make sure everyone gets a chance.
  7. Pay bills online. No checks, no stamps, no bills stacked on the kitchen table, no transporting bills back and forth. You save money, trees, and time. Most banks allow you to pay online though their website or you can go directly to the company‘s website.
